Full course description
Through an interactive presentation based on theory and practice the audience will gain a greater awareness of (1) change, grief and loss in everyday life and normalizing this, (2) dimensions of loss, (3) utilizing story, life review and legacy creation as a tool in counseling, (4) models/stages of grief when counseling children/adolescents/adults, (5) companioning those who are grieving, and (6) useful art tools, rituals, literature and expressive therapy tools. Handouts, references and tools will be provided.
Participants will learn about:
- Change, Grief and Loss as a Normal Ongoing Process
- Grief in the Five Dimensions – How we Hurt and Heal in each Dimension
- Utilizing Storytelling to Heal
- Dignity Therapy and Lumina as Life Review/Legacy Creation interventions for those Dying
- Models and Stages* of Grief in Relation to Age and Developmental Stages
- Tips on Companioning *
