She studied Theology and Education at the University of Dallas and earned her Masters in Counseling from St. Louis University. Eileen has passionately worked in palliative and hospice care for BJC Hospice since 2006, helping people share their stories and leave legacy items for their loved ones. She is an advocate for resiliency in the workplace, encouraging individuals & leaders to invest in their mental health. She was the keynote speaker for the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association in 2024, highlighting ways to put these passions into practice. She has also presented for American Counseling Association, Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association, and Missouri Society of Clinical Social Workers. In 2024, she published a faith-based journal for moms to share their stories and values. When Eileen’s not at the bedside of her hospice patients and families, you might catch her volunteering at her church or kids' schools, running, watching her kids’ games/musical performances, traveling with her family, or rooting for the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify and cultivate a sense of values and non-negotiables
2. Develop new habits for use in personal and professional life
3. Discuss ways to “practice pausing” for the purpose of better self-care, meaning and purpose
Description: We often move through our days at full speed ahead without taking time to stop and think about how we are feeling and what we might be able to briefly do to support our overall well-being and work towards work-life integration. During this presentation, we will share some practical and simple ideas to encourage you to find moments to pause in your day, do a quick check in and see what your body, mind and spirit might need. Self-care doesn’t have to take a ton of time or cost a lot of money to make a meaningful impact in your life. Topics will include numerous tools for everyday support such as: breathing techniques, values exercises, naming your non-negotiables, micro-habits, the science of gratitude, and intention setting. These interventions are transferable to share with clients in therapy who may also be looking for ways to deal with stress, anxiety or ways to pause and do self-care on a daily basis. Our goal is for you to walk away with tools you can incorporate into your personal life with ease as well as share with clients.
